Expert Surgeons and Medical Staff
Our surgeons, including Dr. Thomas Bernik, Dr. Steve Elias, Dr. Nakul Rao, Dr. Michael Cioroiu, and Dr. S. Christopher Frontario offer the latest treatments for even the most complex conditions, from abdominal aneurysms to spider veins, to stubborn wounds that won’t heal. Our physician assistant, Courtney Woodhull, PA, is specially trained to provide expert post-operative and follow-up care for our patients.
State-of-the-Art Facilities & Bloodless Medicine and Surgery
Englewood Health’s “hybrid” operating rooms allow our doctors to perform the most complicated surgeries using minimally invasive techniques, and in many cases, catheter-based procedures. This means shorter hospital stays, less pain and faster recovery times for patients. Of course, our surgeons are also experts in traditional open surgery, if that approach is needed.
In all cases, we are committed to bloodless surgery, and our program is known around the world for its excellent results after surgery.
Personalized, Compassionate Care
We know that surgery can be confusing and can cause anxiety. We believe in a personal approach to patient care, and work to develop a relationship of trust with our patients. This relationship begins long before surgery and continues after the procedure. Our goal is to help our patients understand their treatment options, make surgery as comfortable and stress-free as possible, and follow recovery after surgery and beyond.
Patient Stories
When Barry Shereck went in for carotid artery surgery, he learned the procedure was too risky for him. Dr. Tom Bernik, Chief of Vascular Surgery at Englewood Health, had another solution. He identified Barry as a perfect candidate for a TransCarotid Artery Revascularization (TCAR), a minimally invasive surgery that would reduce his risk of stroke. Barry knew he was in good hands, saying it came down to trust.

Leaders in Patient Care and Vascular Research
Englewood Health has a long history of developing new procedures and guidelines for vascular care. In fact, many techniques in use today were created at Englewood Health.
We continue to offer leading new technologies, including transcaval embolization for abdominal aortic aneurysm endoleaks and radial artery (arm) access for interventional procedures.
For pulmonary embolism, Englewood Health has developed a pulmonary embolism response team (PERT ), which brings together expertise from a team of Englewood Health clinicians from a variety of specialties for the treatment of pulmonary embolism.
Our research laboratory and Wound Healing Center are nationally and internationally recognized for a passion for discovery and for their commitment to excellence in patient care. We are proud that our work at Englewood Health is laying the foundation for the next generation of vascular surgeons and scientists.
